This top-quality house is made of tough and long lasting lightweight aluminum and includes door stops and protective rails. The hexagonal design is both functional and artistically attractive.  2 story, 12 single room house. Converts from 12 single to 6 double rooms to better accommodate larger colonies.  Each apartment can be easily cleaned individually and they're constructed of rust-free aluminum to dissipate heat.  Starling (Purple Martins' main feathered competitor) resistant entrance holes keep competing birds at bay.  Simply remove interior plug and slide solid door in place to convert from a single to double-sized apartment.  Drainage and ventilation holes throughout keep the nests fresh and dry and rails extend around the exterior to help keep .  Plastic door stops are included to close the house off to squatter birds.  These should be inserted when your colony migrates in the winter.  Mount this house on the Heath - 15' Telescoping Martin House Pole sold separately.  However you position your Heath Premium Convertibly Martin House, the purple martins will love it.  Some assembly required with screwdriver and pliers.

This was purchased for a Christmas gift to some family members. I understand that it is a very good birdhouse, especially with the smaller 'doors' so other birds can not get into the house.
